Fitness apps have been at the cornerstone of me getting my health and fitness life together. While I haven’t achieved my fitness goals, I’m much more determined to reach them with the help of these apps. They help me track, keep me going and give me no excuses not to keep my health and fitness on track.
Nike Training Club
Nike Training has a variety of workouts. The app breaks the workouts down into levels and focus areas in intervals ranging from 6-minute abs to 60-minute total body workouts. What I love about this app is you need little to no equipment, there are voice overs to guide you step by step. if you don’t know how to do a particular exercise, you can pause and watch a quick video then resume your workout. It also has challenges where you put together a plan based on your workout goals, and you can set to your music playlist on your phone.
Nike Running
Nike Run tracks your runs whether they’re indoor or outdoor. Similar to the Nike Training app you can set your music playlist or use spotify. You can follow your friends and see how you benchmark against them and challenge each other too.
Weight Watchers
I love to eat! Food is my favorite thing to indulge in…probably a little too much. I tried writing it down but wasn’t consistent. I started using the Weight Watchers app 6 weeks ago and love (and hate) the points system. It forces me to be extremely selective with what I eat. I’ve put back a number of items just on that feature alone. The scanner feature is great so you can see how many points it’s worth before eating. There’s also a social community, which I don’t participate much in, but take a look at from time to time, where other weight watchers users share their weight loss stories.
Fit Men Cook
Kevin Curry is the creator of Fit Men Cook. I’ve been a fan of his healthy meal prep videos on Youtube and Instagram. The app has a lot of recipes, meal plan prep along with the youtube videos on how to prepare. The best part? The weekly meal plans you can create and grocery shopping list where you can add the ingredients for the meals that you add to your weekly plan. It’s helped me organize my breakfast and lunch meal plans ahead of time before I head to the grocery store.
Fitbit
Working out has never been an issue, but I’m most definitely not as active as I used to be. I got a fitbit to track my steps and see where I can increase activity on a daily basis. What I wasn’t expecting was to get major insights on my sleeping patterns. When I realized how many time I woke up during the middle of the night I knew it was time to figure out how to get a better sleep pattern. It was the reason I was so tired during the day and had trouble getting up in the morning. I started a sleep routine to wind down before going to sleep and that helped tremendously.
Check out these apps in the iTunes app store!
