Usain Bolt is the world’s fastest runner. The charismatic Jamaican athlete has been competing for years and is adored by many. The longer he remains in public eye the bigger his brand gets and yet he’s still managed to be a great role model, not just for Jamaicans or Caribbeans, but “to di worl” (to the world). People, young and old, love Usain Bolt, he’s even had president Obama doing his famous lighting bolt stance. He has shown time and time again why he takes his title of athletic role model serious and here’s why you should too.
1.) Talent
Above all, Usain’s talent speaks for itself. You have seen him perform and outperform his peers. While he has a natural talent, he doesn’t rely on just going out to perform. He works diligently to maintain that talent with practice and a strict regimen that keeps him in shape.
2.) Confidence
Usain is extremely confident in his abilities. Some may mistake it for arrogance, but if you don’t believe in yourself who else will? Being confident in whatever skill you have take time to nurture. While Usain’s record breaking skills are amazing, he needed to know that he could achieve in order to accomplish those goals.
3.) Not phased by opinions
Usain’s confidence hasn’t always been a hit with the media. I remember when commentators called him on his boastful nature post races, he would neither be fazed nor bothered by the comments. Usain continues to remain true to himself and his values. Even when he came under fire for accusations about how he was so fast, he contributed his skills to a healthy diet of yams!
4.) Well Branded
Usain and his team understand the power of branding. From his first major win, he has continued to excel athletically and grow his brand into a household name and a global superstar. He has manage to garner endorsements from Gatorade, Puma and starting his own venture locally in Jamaica with a restaurant Tracks & Records (currently seeking franchisees)
5.) Represents Jamaica well
Usain is forever proud of his home country. His pride runs deep and it allows him to give back at every opportunity not just through charitable events, but he has also wants to contribute to the local economic growth of the country. He recently demanded that all of his advertisements be shot locally in Jamaica using a Jamaican crew.

As a Jamaican I am always curious about my people, not so much about their money but about life thru their eyes. I just learned so much about Bolt here and I thank YOU for this post.
