Comedy is one of the top reasons to watch Youtube — it’s the perfect place to check out new comedic talents. Here are my favorite Caribbean comedians to watch. From cultural skits to opinionated rants, these Youtube comedians make being Caribbean interesting and culturally in tuned with one another through comedy.
Trabass TVs Andrew Trabass has hilarious short skits that speak for themselves. I discovered him through the “Sh*t Jamaican Moms Say” and have been a fan ever since He’s recently branched out into making music linking up with producer Ricky Blaze while continuing to keep us laughing.
Haitian comedian Vlad I found on Instagram, I can’t remember the first video I saw, but his Haitian vocabulary lessons and cab confessions remind me of one of my best friends.
My friend Tisha of ScottyBeama put me on to Majah Hype, he’s a multi-dimentional with his variety of comedic approach in what Jamaicans, Haitians, Africans, Bajans, Guyanese and Americans respond to pretty much any situation. With snippets on Instagram and collages on Youtube, Majah Hype is quickly becoming a favorite. (Vlad’s Haitian V and Majah Hype’s Di Rass recently collaborated for video “I Dream That House”)
Dutty Berry is a Jamaica based comedian who rose to status during The Voice season 5, when Tessanne Chin won. Affectionately re-naming the the star, Chinita, his over the top commentary on the show was hilarious! The Dutty Berry Show has since continued to do top 10 videos with commentary on the latest in Caribbean entertainment.
Wally British is the newest of the Caribbean comedy bunch. Sharing her opinion on social situations with a certain level that borders seriousness, wit and genuine comedy. Her “Matey aka side man/woman” video flooded my Facebook timeline earlier this year and she’s been on my radar since. With her signature slogan ” unnuh need to get unnuh acts togetha” no man or woman off limits.
