As 2013 comes to a close, I wanted to reflect on the things I have accomplished with Style & Vibes for 2013. This year was about growing pains personally and professionally. I accomplished some goals and fell off the wagon with a few, but I’m determined to continue to grow this blog in the direction I envisioned when I started it. While I don’t want to talk about the plans, yet, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to every supporter of Style & Vibes thus far. Thanks for rocking with me and allowing me a space in your inbox, computer or mobile screen.
In 2013 I…
1.) Blogged more better!
Although I didn’t blog as much as I initially planned, I did focus on the quality of my posts. I did more interviews and added visual elements, did a few good reviews and even spent some time in front of the camera.
2.) Held my first event Caribbean Digital Divas (we’re back again, bigger and better for March 2014)
Caribbean Digital Divas really made a great impact on my vision, it truly solidified why I want to continue blogging and connecting with people on and offline. This was my first solo event and I was super proud that I was able to see it through. I’ve already begun planning 2014 and hosting another huge event in June (stay tuned for more details).
3.) Attended two conferences: Blogging While Brown & Style Bloggers of Color Conferences
I said to myself at the beginning of 2013 that I wanted to attend at least two blog conferences. Blogging While Brown (BWB) was a great experience in meeting and learning more about the field of blogging. Style Bloggers of Color (SBOC) was more of an opportunity to network and meet a lovely group of ladies; some of whom I’ve been following their blogs for a long time.
4.) Got more social on Facebook and added Instagram for S&V
I’m getting better at engaging on my S&V social media platforms (I’m pretty engaged on my personal platforms but wanted to separate the two as I have different strategies for my personal platforms.) starting an Instagram account was the best thing I did. I’ve gain more followers that than I have with Facebook, but I still get a lot of traffic from Facebook so I’m not giving up on that platform. The hardest part is maintaining it all!
In 2014 I’d like to:
1.) Blog more consistently
2.) Increase readership and engagement
3.) Express my opinions more
4.) Launch an online shop
