I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to various places from a young age, in the states and abroad; Vermont, California Florida, Canada, London, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Brazil and Jamaica, most of which have been family trips that I’ve taken pre-adulthood. In recent years I have primarily visited or accompanied family, and for me I haven’t really gotten to experience as much as I would have like to. Having family in various places has its advantages, but it also means that I’m always visiting family. And while I love my huge family, I haven’t gotten to travel and have new experiences as often as I would like. This list is my catalyst to travel to other Caribbean islands and enjoy the best of what Caribbean Travel has to offer. I’m sure I’ll have more to add to this list once I begin to cross these off.
1.) Trinidad Carnival
Playing mas is at the top of my list. I’ve heard so many great stories about Trinidad Carnival that I know it is a must experience for myself.
2.) Visit Non-English Speaking Country
Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic … I’d love to visit Cuba too. I have this vision totally letting loose to music I don’t completely understand. I took Spanish for years in middle and high school, while I only remember tidbits of the language I love latin culture. The thought of enjoying the vibe of the semi-unknown is intriguing.
3.) Jump off the Cliff at Rick’s Café
I visit Jamaica pretty often, but I recently visited Negril for the first time. I was traveling with the family (baby in tow) so I couldn’t get away. We were only in Negril for 2 days before heading back to Kingston, but we caught a mini boat tour along the coast that stopped at Rick’s Café and I got to see a few people dive off the cliff and made a vow that I’d go back just to do that!
4.) Cruise the Caribbean Sea
I’ve never been that crazy about going on a cruise, but the idea of getting to visit a few islands at during one trip excites me. Although I’m not sure if you can really experience a country’s culture in 1 or 2 days, it’s a great taste of different islands to decide if I’d want to go back and spend extended time there.
5.) Zip Line Tour through the mountains
I was watching the travel channel one day and saw a group zip lining in Costa Rica. The scenery was so beautiful, not to mention the adrenaline rush of zip lining. I searched to see if they had zip lining in the Caribbean and they do, found one in Antigua and St. Lucia .
Exploring the world is something that I’ve always loved so I’m hoping check these off my list soon and of course share with you all. What’s on your travel bucket list?
