Natural’s Night Out was an all day event presented by Chic & Kinky dedicated to natural hair which took place this weekend. There were all kinds of naturally coiled women and men in the building to see what top industry leaders and other inspiring individuals in the natural hair community had to offer. Seminars on topics like Transitioning and loving your natural hear as well as stylish vendors, natural hair lovers have a field day with all the great style inspirations (I’m sorry I didn’t get to take a lot of pictures of all the lovely ladies, but be sure to check them out on Chic & Kinky’s Facebook page).
I attended primarily to support my good friend Gizzy (Yes, she’s was repping her Boriqua heritage; the event was the same day as the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City) who’s transitioning to going natural. She’s opting to cut it slowly rather than do the Big Chop and wanted some feedback on how the care for her hair and get samples to see what works best for her. Although we didn’t attend any of the seminars, Gizzy got to speak with Carol’s Daughter seminar leader about their transitioning kit. We also collected a few new samples and bought a few items myself.
I was super excited to see EDENS Body Works! I purchased the Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner. I’ve been hearing about EDENS Body Works products over the last few months and with reasonable prices (Curly hair products are so expensive), I got both for $12 (A NNO special, going rate is $8.50 each). I can’t wait to try and let you all know how it is.
The turban accessories craze continues. I’m def not ready to rock a turban scarf, but these turban-esque headbands were too adorable and versitle for me to pass up. I bought the red one.
I met the wonderful ladies of Socacize! I heard about their Soca infused exercise class based in Brooklyn, NY from fellow blogger Jay Blessed (I can’t wait to try very soon).
