When did you start blogging?
Crazy enough, I purchased my domain name 5 years ago but only actually started blogging this past March. My mommy always said “nothing happens before it’s time!”
Describe your blog in one sentence?
Jay Blessed is your daily source for your Caribbean news, entertainment and gossip!
What made you want to become a blogger?
I’ve always been the very expressive and vocal type and abreast of most things in the Caribbean entertainment scene, and it seemed only fitting to launch Jay Blessed and share what I knew with people who also have the same interest in the Caribbean diaspora.
What do you love about blogging?
I love the fact that I can be in my bedroom propped up on my pillows writing an article or posting a story and someone in the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, Africa and America will be reading what’s on my site..
What’s the hardest part about keeping your content fresh and relevant?
The hardest part about being relevant in blogging is simply “feeding the beast!” A blog, especially JB (which is update everyday) needs to be fed information, everyday. When the latest news breaks, no matter where I am, it needs to be on the site.
What do you hope to accomplish through your blog?
I hope that through my website, I would be able to highlight the Caribbean; its people, its culture, its music, its influence in one place to the world. We have our gossip just like any other culture and we have such a profound impact on America and the world’s fashion, music, entertainment and lifestyle yet we don’t really get credit for it. People are not aware of the fact that the stylist that molded Diddy’s look is St. Lucian or the choreographer behind Lady Gaga is Jamaican/American or that the songwriters behind a lot of the hits you hear on radio are from Barbados, the Virgin Islands, Trinidad and the list goes on. We are big news…I’m here to give us shine!
Favorite artist right now (Caribbean or otherwise)?
Do I have to name one? My favorite artist right now is actually Fay Ann Lyons. She is an exceptional artist repping Soca music hard! She’s a business woman, a mother, a wife and she reminds me a lot of myself through her music and life. She’s talented yet relatable.
Favorite Designer?
This is easy! Everyone that knows me, know that I a bonafide fan of Simon Duncan. Mel Simon is an amazing Trinidadian-born, NY based designer who has created masterpieces for a slew of Celebrities …and ME! 🙂
