The Essence Festival 2020 lineup includes a number of Caribbean and African acts on the main stage and supper lounge. The long-running festival is held in New Orleans in July and is the largest black music festival in the U.S. This year marks a milestone in which the magazine celebrates 50 years in the business.
This year’s evening concert series will see performances from the biggest names in music. For the first time ever, Grammy Award-winning international superstar Bruno Mars will headline the weekend, alongside entertainment icon, Janet Jackson, with electrifying mainstage performances from: Ari Lennox, Janelle Monae, Patti LaBelle, Raphael Saadiq, Summer Walker and Swizz Beatz, plusan all-star Reggae x Afrobeats curation led by Estelle and featuring Afro B, Chronixx, Elephant Man, Kranium, Max Glazer, Maxi Priest and Shenseea.
Estelle is no stranger to sharing her love for Caribbean and African music. Estelle has collaborated with Reggae producers and has always shared her affinity for the music recording singles with Buju Banton, and making her most recent album Lover’s Rock. If you remember last year Estelle did the same at a smaller venue and they showed out in the hallway of the Superdome, this year they’re on the big stage. Looking forward to seeing the excitement. If you’re going bring your flag!
