The song and music video for ‘Where I’m Coming From’ means a lot to me. I finally had an opportunity to summarize my story thus far and involve the people who have been, and still are, a part of my journey.
Jamaica’s magnetic upstart Lila Iké unveils the visual for her new single “Where I’m Coming From.” The track has been picking up heat since its debut on June 14th, 2019 via In.Digg.Nation Collective/Easy Star Records. The video, directed by Nickii Kane, brings to life the fiery fervor heard in Lila’s versatile flow and in the rugged trap-inspired beat produced by Kasadie “Caspa” Jones.
From her first home in Kingston to her hometown in the countryside of Manchester, Lila takes the viewers on a vibrant walk through her stomping grounds in Jamaica, with friends and family along the way. Later, her crew – which includes a star-studded cast like dancehall artist Chi Ching Ching and GRAMMY-nominated reggae singer Protoje – turns the streets into a lively party. The 25-year-old is making waves outside of The Caribbean. With style and grace, she recently made an epic entrance in NYC on Protoje’s set at BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn! concert. Over 5000 fans roared to the sounds of her performance at the free show held at Prospect Park. Throughout July and August, Lila Iké is slated to perform at some of reggae’s premier music festivals in Europe. |
