Cariboake is a fresh take on Karaoke from the Caribbean perspective. Singers take the stage in front of a crowd to sing their favorite Reggae, Soca, Dancehall, Kompa or Afrobeats songs.
Karaoke is always a fun social activity with friends. There are definitely some people who take it more seriously, with vocals to match, but most people just do it for fun. If you have ever been to Karaoke you know most of the songs are pop top 100 songs or classics that can get stale. Cariboake is a fun Caribbean music experience that allows people to express love for their music and culture, singing and dancing with an engaged crowd.
Hosted by comedian/actress Nelly (Known on IG as Nelly So Funny) in the heart of the Caribbean aka Brooklyn, Caribaokers lined up to sing their chunes like they were cleaning their house on a Saturday morning and got fully distracted by the vibes. The energy of the room was like performing for family and who can resist a great sing-along from the audience perspective.
DJ Mastamind and Nelly kept the crowd warm with Nelly singing a few songs like Denise Belfon’s “Wining Queen” and showing off her dancing skills to Nessa Preppy’s “Issa Snack” all complete with the sounds of a steel pan drummer. The participants took the stage singing songs like Buju Banton’s “I Wanna Be Loved,” Kes The Band’s “Savannah Grass,” Jamesy P’s “Soca Land” and more. Cariboake was pure vibes, don’t miss out on the next one!
