Wine to di Baseline! Well, more like wine with it on. Baseline Cosmetics is a fun beauty brand inspired by the ultimate socialites…Caribbean party goers. Lipsticks, liners and eye shadows that can stand the heat of the Caribbean and not melt away through a bashment or day fete.
I’ve personally been wearing a few of the colors over the last few months while out and about. ended the summer with at Day Break NYC and used their Get on Bad lipstick and Mocha lip liner, which lasted all night afternoon with just one use. Their Baddie lipstick has already become a staple, you guys know I’m all about a red lip!
Baseline Cosmetics is geared towards party-goers, carnival revelers and music lovers. Baseline Cosmetics currently offer HiDef lipsticks, lip liners, and eye shadows with plans to expand their product offerings in the future.
I got a chance to speak with Nichole Naomi, owner of Baseline Cosmetics about how she started a beauty brand, celebrating all things Caribbean party culture.
Why did you want to create a line connected to your Caribbean heritage?
I wanted to create a makeup line that represented Caribbean girls in the beauty community. I also wanted to start my company to join the Caribbean party culture to how clean and proper we look when we step out.
What are some challenges you face in growing Baseline Cosmetics?
Difficulties that I face in growing is exposure and product expansion. I want to offer so much more than what I currently have, but that will come in time.
Who in the beauty industry inspires you and why?
For years I have been a huge fan of Makeup Shayla and Ellarie who I recently learned is half Haitian. I’m also a fan of Tina the Fancy Face who is Jamaican. Their makeup looks are always flawless and I have admired their growth and their background stories.
What are you 3 must-haves for your collection?
My 3 must haves are an eyebrow pencil, lipstick/gloss and highlighter.
Who are you Stylin’ on and what are you vibin’ to right now?
I am currently styling on passion twists and I’m vibing to Popcaan, Shensea, TeeJay, and all things groovy Soca!
