One of the most prolific artists of our time, Buju Banton, was released from the McCrae Correctional Facility in Georgia after serving 9 years for being convicted of conspiracy to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm (firearm charges were later dropped.)
Reggae and Dancehall artist Buju Banton has been widely missed by fans and musical colleagues across the globe. Buju Banton’s “Long Walk to Freedom” has been in full swing, with high anticipation of new music and touring, his journey in music is far from complete. Buju’s Instagram is filled with pictures, videos and kind words of encouragement from the people. He dropped this message a few weeks ago:
“In light of the adversity I have encountered, I feel the need to stress that my only desire going forward is peace and love. I only want to be associated with my craft. Having survived, I want to share the good news and strength of my music. I just want to continue making music, which I’ve devoted my life to. I look forward to the opportunity to say a personal thanks to all my fans and everyone who supported me.” – Buju Banton’s Instagram
We are indeed excited for his return and hope he enjoys time with his family, friends and getting back to what he’s known for…great music. While there were no official “homecoming” celebration plans for Buju’s return, Instagram had a field day with responses to Buju’s return, here are some of our favorites:
