A new kind of show will be joining the pantheon of art fairs this December for 2018 Miami Art Week. The inaugural Contemporary Art & Collectables At The Breakwater marries several disparate and uniquely different exhibitions under one roof for the first time right in the center of Miami Beach’s Art Deco District. Along with many special features and events the exhibition will include Onomatopoeia Art, a historic and comprehensive display of collected works by some of the greatest names in comic book and animation art. Known for their creative mix of vaudevillian performance, literary magic, and one-on-one poetry, the scenic setting of the Breakwater Hotel affords the perfect opportunity to enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience. Underpinning the select offerings At The Breakwater will be a wide-ranging and global presentation of emerging and contemporary art from the Caribbean, Africa, and the Americas under the banner of Global Africa, a pioneer in creative arts from the African Diaspora. 2018 theme Black Art Matters explores current challenges, and renewed assaults on Black Lives that artists of African descent have brought attention to. Architect and cultural arts influencer Neil Hall’s inaugural Art Africa Miami Arts Fair(AAMAF)opening was purposefully established in Historic Overtown in 2011 and set a precedent as the largest showcase of contemporary artists from the African Diaspora during Art Basel. This year’s theme confronts all stereotypes and ignorances with a bold statement: Black Art Matters: It’s Not A Choice. The fair is put on with the support of the Southeast Overtown Parkwest Community Development Agency. Art Africa Miami continues to bring a vital and essential cultural service to the South Florida community, lending the Magic City a truly international flair. (More Info.)

Grand Market is a longstanding tradition in Jamaica that takes place after the usual Christmas morning service or on the eve of Christmas Day. The whole community would be out in their numbers participating in a variety of games, and competitions for all ages, lots of gifts including many toys were on sale from brightly decorated stalls, there was food and drink in abundance, and a great time was had by the entire family throughout the day.
