Buju Banton is being released December 8, 2018, and the anticipation for the Reggae superstar’s first performance his been buzzing amongst fans and industry insiders for months. Buju’s Re-unification to the public campaign is in full swing and we’ve finally gotten some insight on where and when his first performance might be.
In a press conference held on the Love & Harmony Cruise, brand manager Jodi Lewis, of Everything Buju Banton, stated that the first scheduled show is going to be in Trinidad & Tobago on April 22. Now, we know what you’re thinking, why Trinidad…I think even Trinis were perplexed, but mostly excited. However, Jamaicans were none too pleased with the announcement as “nowhere nuh betta dan yard” sentiment overwhelming had fans and industry insiders scratching their heads. Ronnie Tomlison of the Love & Harmony Cruise clarified, April 22 is the first scheduled date, but is it is not Buju’s first public performance as there are still negotiations taking place for other shows. Only time will tell, but given the high demand for Buju, he’s bound to be touring for a while. The initial excitement for his release have fans are yearning to see Gargamel, and many of his U.S. based fans are ready to book a ticket to do so.
