My fitness journey continues, I’m down to 153! As I continue this journey to living healthy and fit, I’m figuring out a few things about what works for me and what doesn’t.
Canceled Weight Watchers app
I had a 3-month trial but decided not to proceed with my app membership. While I love the app’s point system and it was easy to manage, tracking everything honestly made me more depressed (exaggeration) about how much I couldn’t/shouldn’t eat. A lot of the recipes I made weren’t in there so I had to add recipes. I’m still using my Fit Men Cook app for meal prep though. I think the tracking made me hyper-aware of the calorie intake, which made me more paranoid about it. But what I did learn about how much points an item was, I remember and still keep in mind when I’m choosing snacks and maintaining the correct portion controls.
I also didn’t participate in the social community. I would have preferred a private group with friends within the group. I didn’t want to put ALL my business out there in a new community. The app also didn’t give any recommendations for food options/alternatives or tips on how to cut back to meet my goal. It also didn’t integrate with my fitness activities like T25 or Nike Running etc. These would be great app improvements.
I’d still recommend the Weight Watchers app to people who want to identify what they’re eating. It really made me think twice about what I was eating.
So, I’m not tracking at all, but I’m eating good carbs before 5pm, which I think has mad a significant impact. I’m still craving sweets every now and again. I’ve been reaching for Popcorners Kettlecorn flavor.

Group Training Sessions
I was about half way through of my T25 program (5 weeks to go!), but I did take a week off to do a group training session with my friends. I usually don’t like group training or even working out with buddies. Working out for me a great alone time, I like to zone out and get pretty annoyed when I can go at my own pace. Additionally, I don’t want to become reliant on anyone in order to workout. While working out with a buddy can be a great motivator, it can also hinder your progress is schedules change or one quits.
I decided to go against my better judgment and I’m glad I did. A friend of mine recommended a local trainer who allowed us to split his private training fee among the five of us. I actually enjoyed working out with my friends, motivating each other and having a little fun at the same time. We’re trying to get our healthy lives together, so we’ve committed to twice a week for the next month.
No alcohol for 30 days
Part of the training session includes the group text.We even have a private group chat dedicated to showing what we’re eating daily (I think this is what the Weight Watchers app was missing), it forces me to keep eating healthy because my girls are doing the same. We all committed to no alcohol for 30 days. I’m usually pretty good about my diet Monday-Friday, the weekends tend to be my downfall. I like to eat, drink and be merry; especially in social settings. Seltzer water will by “go-to” beverage with a splash of lime!

I am so proud and inspired!!!!
I have to say I am also not a fan of working out with friends because I feel like it’s distracting. However, I found a great gym and made some amazing friends! Half of going to the gym is to see them and catch up with them. The other huge part of working out (other than seeing results) is to have a great trainer! My trainer/owner of the gym is awesome!!!! We have hiking trips and a holiday party! What gym does that?!?
Keep it up and I’m going to keep watching your videos to get more inspiration!

Thank you so much! It’s challenging, but keep going 🙂 The trainer and group make all the difference, keeps you motivated to keep going. I may need to join you on that hike! I want to try doing that more now that the weather is warming up.
