In the ultimate Style & Vibes connection, reggae singer I-Octane teams up with Atlanta, GA based clothing company RepJA for an exclusive line of t-shirts.
RepJA is a long standing dancehall lifestyle brand that has and continues to expand with distribution through their online store, Dr. Jays and Karmaloop. Dancehall artists, DJs and trendsetters have been spotted in their clothing designed with popular dancehall phrases like “Ah Ya Suh Nice”, “Cross, Angry, Miserable” “Love Punany Bad” and many more. Collaborating with I-Octane is a great fit as the singjay has become one of the hottest and consistent acts over the last few years.
After seeing RepJA’s creative and groundbreaking work, I-Octane’s New York based brand manager Paul Parris reached out to the line to work on a collaboration with the artist. He stated that “In the hip hop world, artists and brands are constantly collaborating, however I noticed it was lacking in the reggae community. I felt it was time for us, as leaders of the new Caribbean diaspora here in the States, to initiate these concepts in an authentic way.”
It was a labor of love as RepJA design team executed the concept. “Doing a collab tee with I-Octane was a no brainer, he is one of the hottest dancehall artist in Jamaica right now”. “We (RepJA) along with I-Octane’s Conquer the Globe Team brainstormed on a few of I-octane’s current songs/phrases and decided Buss A Blank was the right choice based on the message that if you don’t stand for something you will fall for everything. When you agree with a song, a movement, when you do what a you’re supposed to do as an individual and your independent you buss a blank.” states Omar of RepJA.
The t-shirt will officially be unveiled at the official launch on June 15th, 2013 at BASE KINGSTON store! Guests will be treated to a meet and greet by I-Octane and Kardinal Offishall. Music will be provided by guest DJ Baby Drew, internationally known as Chris Brown’s Official DJ and Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta cast member (he wore a RepJA shirt in one of the episodes), and by Jamaica’s own DJ VICE. Shirts will be sold at the launch event, exclusively online at www.RepJA.com and in stores who currently carry RepJA clothing. They will also be available at various I-Octane events and performances.
