Online digital advancements have (and will continue to) become embedded in our constantly connected lifestyles, not only in the way we communicate with each other, but on how we consume and distribute content. Digital downloads, interactive websites, e-magazines, live streams, blogs and social media have cultivated a substantial shift in entertainment consumption. Caribbean culture is not left behind on the technical advancements and women are playing key roles in distributing content on a daily basis.
Caribbean Digital Divas was a “no holds bar” round table discussion amongst women in Caribbean media based in New York City with special guest Pat McKay (Music Director for Sirius XM Satellite Radio) lead by me, Miss Mikelah, co-sponsored by Triple The Focus Magazine and the National Minority Business Council (NMBC Inc.) held in honor of Women’s History Month, on March 20.
The event included an intense discussion focused on how the internet has negatively and positively contributed to how people view Caribbean culture, the generational/cultural gaps with using technology to communicate and how digital advancements affects our daily lives from a personal and career perspective.
I’m extremely proud the event, I definitely have more planned in the future, so stay tuned!
