According to St. Petersburg Times (Tampa Bay), Dancehall superstar Buju Banton may be out of jail on bail very soon. Banton awaiting a re-trial, as the jurors in his last trial could not come to a verdict in his case. He faces charges of conspiracy to possess and distribute an illegal substance while in possesion of a weapon. His lawyer, David Oscar Markus is hoping for a re-trial soon, but sought bail in the mean time.
If internationally known reggae star Buju Banton wants to get out of jail before his retrial on cocaine conspiracy charges, it won’t be cheap.
To make bail, Banton would have to post $250,000 — secured by the equity in a friend’s house — wear an electronic monitor and undergo drug testing.
Banton also would have to pay for around-the-clock security, probably off-duty sheriff’s deputies, to watch his every move.

Over the weekend local radio program Irie Jam hosted a tribute to the singer as they spoke candidly on-air about the case with his lawyers and close family and friends of Banton all while playing his music and supporting his innocence.
