Many movie sequels exceed expectations or seriously fall short. For Why Did I Get Married Too, this movie fell into the latter category for many reasons. Without spoiling it for those who have not seen it yet ,what peeved me the most was the under developed storyline, cheesy lines and over exaggerations at the wrong moments and the cheating wife that got off way too easily!
In my humble opinion, each of these couples have intricate stories that we do not get to see. Granted it’s hard to touch on every detail of the couple’s relationship in a 2-hour time span, but the plot seemed all too rushed. Perhaps a TV show spin off would have done more justice, similarly to Soul Food.
Tyler Perry is known for cheesy lines, balanced with comedic relief, the only comedy being Angela’s loud mouth antics, which bordered embarrassment (I hope not too many of us act like her in public!). Honestly I expected the occasional bad one-liners.
I’m not the biggest fan of Tyler Perry, but I –and many others — will continue to support and respect his work hoping each will get better. My favorite movie is still A Family That Preys. I will say Why Did I Get Married Too will get viewers talking, but for me did no love up to the expectations.
