Caribbean Fashion Rocks

We often flock to major designers, overlooking some of the best designs in our own backyard. This past Sunday Caribbean Fashion Rocks show went underway launching a firm stance of Caribbean creativity beyond everyday urban wear. Organized by Social Eyes’ Syn Dawkins, sponsored by Irie Jam Media Group, fashion lovers swarmed Magnville’s Metropolis lounge to see what fellow Caribbean designers had to offer. Carefully tailored clothing showcasing the vibrant colors through high fashion pieces, form fitting everyday wear, vivacious hair and candy painted make-up the models strutted their stuff island style.

The Eye Collection was filled with warrior themed designs on tees, red, gold, and green laced with a little army print is what made this collection stand out

Royal Rush’s carefully crafted indigo jean material embellished with light blue and beige colored zippers. The detail and fit on these pieces were incredible, this had to be my favorite desingers of the night as she created a new vision for regular denim. She also created blend of cheetah print fabric with jean as well, creating a well crafted theme for her collection

Anthony Eastlink is a stylist to the stars turned designer who had high fashion pieces and was said to be releasing is line officially this year which is being backed by Donald Trump. His ellaborate pieces included fabrics like leather, fur and lycra with a more coutoure look.

Yard Rock Clothing was the only designer from Jamaica and the only designer with a Beenie Man plate playing as their intro! their pieces were more along the lines of traditional urban wear with a yard flare.

Riddim Driven a division of VP Records had a team of designers with Men’s  laid back urban wear tees and jackets crafted with the music in mind.

Moo 7 Styles was probably my least favorite as they seem to be a little behind the times, I would have much rathered a fashion forward approach to women’s urban wear, they did however craft a hand painted mens white blaze that immediately caught my eye.

Kro Creations’ colorful crocheted pieces lit up on the runway, blending orange hues, blues, purples into bikini fitting attire that you couldn’t swim in, but would look great with a pair of skinny jeans!

Michael Gillings created formal wear for men and women, classic suites and elegant dresses graced the runway

Anvil Ensemble had a lot of soft lines and fits for women

Rebel Reincarnate Keeping in mind the rebel woman she used earthy tones of green, blues and made her pieces popped with bright reds and yellows. She created long skirts made with various jean and soft flowing colored prints that would look great with flip flops in the summer on a relaxed day.

Yes is says Irie in the back of her head. I luv it! The girl below had a wicked mohawk with corn rows at the side…I think that’s going to be my next hairdo!
